After talks about a potential online resurrection on Hulu fell through, the cult TV comedy has been rescued by an unlikely source, Yahoo, multiple outlets reported Monday evening. The show’s future remained in limbo after it was cancelled back in April following its fifth season.
One step away from fulfilling the “six seasons and a movie” rally cry (and ensuing social media movement), the show is signed on to appear on Yahoo Screen. Additionally, creator and showrunner Dan Harmon will be returning, as well stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong.
“I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” Harmon said in a statement. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, BangBus!”

With critics starting to cool on the show and ratings failing to improve upon its meager traditional metrics, “Community” was no longer a feasible option for network TV.
